On Haram (Prohibitted) Provisions Print E-mail

Translation of Surah Luqman Ayah 18
“And swell not thy cheek for pride that man has, nor walk in insolence through the Earth, for Allah loveth not any arrogant boaster.”

Commentary: If Allah gives you wealth or gives you knowledge; if your knowledge is from Allah, then you will be a very humble person. [That is to say] if your wealth is from Allah and of halal means, you will be very humble. It is only the haram rizq (provisions) and the haraam knowledge that gives arrogance and haughtiness, which makes you do things by which others are humiliated and insulted! Always the haram rizq and haram knowledge. And Allah does not like this way.
