ABBOTTABAD, Pakistan - A highly experienced and dedicated team of American Muslim doctors, paramedics and relief volunteers are taking care of patients, victims of the October 8th earthquake, at Ayub Medical Hospital Complex in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The medical team has been working tirelessly for the past 2 weeks.

ammrt1.jpgThe second contingent arrived seven days ago and is headed by Dr Naimah Ghafur from California. They are treating critical cases such as burns, amputations, surgeries and also providing general care. Disregarding personal comfort and needs, the American team has won the hearts of patients and their families, setting an example of humanity and brotherhood. They distributed sweets and juices to the patients on the Eid while the relief wing working under Syed Shafaat Gilani and Muhammad Atiq Shahid has personally delivered and also sent tents, food, medical supplies and other relief items to various locations in Azad Kashmir and Mansera Area.

Simultaneously, in the USA, small girls have been raising relief funds by selling pillow covers and candies while their mothers sewed hundreds of bed sheets for hospitals treating victims of the earthquake. Ayub Medical Hospital Complex has been donated large amounts of medicines, surgical gloves, bed sheets and surgical instruments.

The relief operation being carried out by the American Muslim Medical Team is all being done under the direction of the Vice Chancellor of the Intl. Quranic Open University, El Sheikh Syed Mubarik  Ali Shah Gilani Qadri, who had earlier sent teams of Muslim Boy Scouts to 9/11 Ground Zero, the Asian Tsunami, and New Orleans following hurricane Katrina.

Because American Muslims follow the Sufic aspect of Islam, they love all of the creatures of God and render help to all irrespective of color, creed or religion. The third contingent of plastic surgeons and other specialists have reached to treat burnt children and perform skin grafts and plastic surgery.

A ten member mountain relief team belonging to the Islamberg Hiking Club of the IQOU shall be reaching in the first week of December. Their goal shall be to reach and help people on high mountains and remote villages which are inaccessible due to land slides, failing weather and rugged terrain, where even helicopters cannot reach due to the impossible conditions for landing.

Images from this blessed relief effort can be viewed in our Gallery area.
